Said the following about Velmurugan Kandasamy:

“Velmurugan has been an instrumental engineer on the 4 Lines Modernisation Programme over the last several years, which is the largest upgrade programme on the London Underground network.

Velmurugan has been leading a team of signalling engineers on 3 key areas of the programme over the last several years, with significant involvement in many other areas too. He is currently leading a team to deliver 3 migration areas, covering the east end of the District Line and the Metropolitan Line, the latter of which is one of the most complex, with interfaces to the Jubilee Line and the Neasden Depot, the largest depot on the programme, and is scheduled to be commissioned in early 2024.

Velmurugan leads on the delivery of the wayside signalling hardware interface for these areas, but also plays a key integrator role, bringing together and ensuring smooth integration of designs from UK, Canada, Portugal and India. The District Line East areas Velmurugan leads were successfully commissioned in the first quarter of 2023, which introduced new complexities with interfaces to Network Rail and large complex areas such as Barking Sidings and Upminster Depot.

The above outlines Velmurugan's technical capabilities, however he has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills throughout this journey and received fabulous, which includes;

- Many hours of relentlessly going above and beyond to ensure integration and readiness of all HW design deliverables.

- Several examples of very positive feedback directly from the client and internal colleagues with respect to Vel’s work ethic, drive and agility to address emerging issues promptly and extensively support other functions.

- Change in organisation allowed Vel space to deliver more independently with reduced supervision, and Vel confidently stepped up to this challenge showing great accountability and ownership.

- Continued motivation of teams to deliver SMA6, critically not losing focus on SMA7, SMA8 and Acton Maintenance Facility to maintain programme while not losing sight of looking for every opportunity to develop his team.

Finally, Vel has built fantastic relations with the Customer and teams in Canada, India and Portugal, and the trust in his ability and competence is evident in the success of the areas for which he is responsible and the positive feedback received.“

Said the following about Velmurugan Kandasamy:

“I worked with Vel in London Underground 4LM Project during my tenure in Thales GTS. Vel is a great Leader who take every minor detail with great attention for perfect delivery of project. He carefully listens to every team member and take opinions by giving value to all suggestions. He is very supportive in team development and always maintains healthy relations both within the team and with all other stakeholders. He has so much patience to solve even minor problems without ignoring.

Vel has wide range of experience ranging from wayside signalling to core interlocking principles and in multiple technologies. Vel has been pivotal in execution of complex areas of special Migration areas like Barking and Neasden areas of 4LM Project which includes multiple interfaces.

I am very glad working with Vel and enjoyed every bit of it.

I strongly believe his contributions to the Rail Industry shall be appreciated.“
