Said the following about Sophia Davies:

“On Friday 20th of November Sophia called an ambulance at Cardiff station which saved my husband’s life who was having a heart attack. His name is Mike Jones a train manager at Swansea and Sophia, on that day, was acting train manager. She rang me to say he was being taken to Heath Hospital at Cardiff.

I cannot thank her enough as my husband was saying he didn’t need one but she realised how seriously ill he was and her prompt actions saved him. He had three stents fitted and will require more in the next few weeks. Thank you so much.“

Sharon Giffard

Said the following about Sophia Davies:

“I would like to nominate Sophia because she is one of the most caring, compassionate, empathic colleagues I have had the pleasure of working with. She is always thinking of others and will do her very best to ensure her colleagues are well looked after. On the day in question she was an invaluable support to a colleague who was extremely ill and without her quick actions and level of support I am not sure he would have got the level of medical intervention that he needed. She put our colleague first by travelling in an ambulance at the height of Covid to ensure he wasn't on his own throughout the scariest of times. She also took the time to communicate with his wife to ensure she was kept up to date with all the relevant details. Sophia is truly inspirational and an asset to our depot here at Swansea.“

Neil Evans

Said the following about Sophia Davies:

“Sophia is well known and respected in the region as a compassionate, empathetic and caring colleague. This was put to the test when Sophia was travelling on a train to Cardiff. Shortly before arrival at Cardiff, a colleague suddenly felt very unwell. At Sophia's insistence, she arranged for an ambulance to take him to hospital. Sophia travelled with our colleague in the ambulance so that he was not alone and reassured him whilst the paramedics worked hard on him. It transpired that our colleague suffered a heart attack on the train and in the ambulance. It is both our colleagues and his wife's belief that Sophia helped save his life that day and are both hugely grateful to Sophia for her heroic and selfless actions that day. I believe that Sophia is a person that we should all be proud of for her brave decisions that day.“
