Nominations for Rail Team of the Year

Mark Lindahl

Said the following about Site and Ground Investigation Team:

“The last 12 months have been a busy one for the team which has seen us continue to develop and evolve. Changes in best practice and standards have meant a very busy period of learning and development whilst continuing to deliver high quality, high value investigations to our wide client base.

The team has flourished in their role delivering a national framework contract to Buildings and Civils Design teams within Network Rail. No site is too challenging for the team who regularly find a solution to gaining the information required when the obstacles initially appear to be too great to all involved.

The team are railway people who understand the complexities of accessing the rail infrastructure; when this is combined with the extensive technical experience of the team it produces a winning combination. All lead drillers are safety critical trained to a minimum of Engineering Supervisor (ES) with the first tranche having also recently undertaken Safe Work Leader (SWL2) training in their continuing professional development. Our newbies are now also 2/3rd o the way through their British Drilling Association (BDA) Apprenticeship which has been widely enjoyed.

Over the past 6 months two new rigs have come into service. We have in conjunction with Dando Drilling developed a tracked cable percussive drilling rig to gain access to areas previously impossible for cable drilling and also a slope climbing rotary percussive rig. The latter is capable of climbing 55 degree slopes whilst self-levelling. The training on these new machines has been long and intensive with the guys rising to the challenge they have been presented with.

This attitude and willingness to deliver has led the team to organically grow to meet ever increasing workloads and build upon its successes. This has resulted in the team being one of the largest growth areas within the successful business Bridgeway Consulting Ltd.

Testament to the hard work and can-do attitude of the team is their upcoming involvement in the GI for the enabling works (HS2) at Euston Station. This will be the largest single project taken on to date and one the team are relishing the challenge of.“
