Said the following about Shaun Gosling:

“After graduating in Geography and Economics from Loughborough University in 2013, Shaun was selected to join telent’s 2 year Graduate Programme.

Settling into his role as a Graduate Project Manager quickly, Shaun took on increasing responsibilities and soon made a big impression around the company.

A natural project manager:

Shaun has primarily been involved in Network Rail’s national SCADA replacement project. Nominating Shaun, Scott Burt, Project Director said, “Since joining telent in 2013 at the age of 21 Shaun has really grown in confidence. It’s great to witness how he matured into his role, winning the respect of his colleagues in a number of different areas of the business. Shaun is someone you can completely trust and rely on to get a job done – a really solid, safe pair of hands for a project.”

Engineering Manager Paul Hodgson added, “Shaun has been engaged on the Network Rail National Traction Power SCADA Project for a number of months covering a wide range of roles necessitating a diverse skill-set and ability to grasp concepts and issues quickly. There has been a need for a robust approach to all aspects of the work as, in the delivery phase of the project, there is no room for imprecision and speed of delivery is critical. Shaun has delivered aspects ranging from the co-ordination and facilitation of interdisciplinary engineering reviews, generation and documentation of detailed Hazard Analysis studies and facilitation of the creation and validation for in-service Network Rail Operational Processes. Recently, Shaun has taken on the execution of the Change Management process which demands a high-level of control.

“He has undertaken all of these activities, as well as supporting other areas of the Project and business, with passion and drive, to a very high level of attainment.”

In addition to the SCADA project, Shaun has also spent time project managing two major research projects – StaaS, Stations as a Service and The Health and Prognostic Assessment of Railway Assets for Predictive Maintenance.

Commenting on Shaun’s contribution to one of the research projects, Alastair Norman, Head of Asset

Condition Monitoring, said “Shaun has been a valuable asset to the team delivering the Health and Prognostic Assessment project for Innovate UK. He jumped straight in to leading the Project Management of the programme and has managed, single handed, all aspects of the delivery for the last 12 months. His ability to manage a diverse set of consortium members and juggle with a challenging concept has been exemplary.”

As a result of his commitment, progress and achievements, Shaun was promoted to Assistant Project Manager ahead of schedule.

A keen footballer, Shaun currently plays for his village team, having previously played at county level. Shaun has enjoyed the telent graduate programme and, following completion, remains committed to furthering his career within telent. He added “the scheme has been brilliant. I’m now a much more confident communicator and have learnt new skills, like budgeting, that I had previously not experienced in practical way. The telent graduate programme provides lots of one to one time to learn and offers the opportunity to shape your own training according to the areas you are particularly interested in.”“
