Nominations for Customer Service Award

Nichola Rudd

Said the following about Samuel French:

“On Saturday 10th June, the overheads went down on the Hertford branch line and a train with passengers was stuck at Ware station and no one could get hold of the staff there.

I called Broxbourne to see if dispatch staff could go down and give customer service at Ware, as there were quite a few people there and buses on route.

As there was only 1 dispatcher, we asked Samuel who at the time was working on the gates if he wouldn't mind spending his shift at Ware and assisting. He did not grumble, he was more than happy to help and had every right to say no. Nevertheless, he went there and assisted until disruption was over. Throughout the ordeal he had a very positive attitude and was determined to help both his colleagues and customers. He showed GA's values perfectly on this day and I feel he should have recognition for this.“

Gentian Kala

Said the following about Samuel French:

“I would like to nominate Samuel because he is a very hard-working and passionate individual. He always goes over and beyond with everything he does.

He is always very kind and very helpful to customers and staff, he is very knowledgeable about everything to do with the railways and this helps everyone including passengers, staff and myself included.

He is very passionate about his job and he is a very well respected person and member of GA.

Since meeting him as a passenger prior to joining Greater Anglia, then becoming a gateline operator at Broxbourne he had excelled there helping customers to the best possible way, then he quickly became a Train Dispatcher at Harlow Town. I am really proud of him and his dedication to Greater Anglia and the rail industry as a whole. He deserves every nomination and all the recognition he gets.“

Deanne Naul

Said the following about Samuel French:

“I am writing to nominate Samuel French for his exceptional dedication and service, and I would like to share with you the reasons why he truly deserves this recognition.

On 10th of June 2023, a challenging situation arose when there was OHLE wire problems on the Hertford branch line, leaving a train with passengers stranded at Ware station with no immediate assistance.

This is when Samuel stepped up in an admirable manner. While he was originally stationed at the gates at Broxbourne, he selflessly offered to relocate to Ware station to assist during this disruption. As there was no staff there. He coordinated with the rail replacement bus drivers as well as customers. His willingness to go above and beyond his regular duties without hesitation is a testament to his commitment to his company and its customers. He demonstrated exceptional customer service and showed remarkable dedication to his responsibilities.

Furthermore, I would like to highlight another instance of Samuel's exceptional service. On September 15th, 2023, while working on Platforms 1/2, he assisted a passenger who had left their phone on the train. Samuel's kindness and willingness to help in this situation further demonstrate his dedication to customer satisfaction and his colleagues.

Samuel French is a remarkable young man who consistently goes the extra mile to assist others and contribute positively to our company. His efforts and enthusiasm to help others are truly commendable, and I believe he deserves to be recognized and rewarded for his outstanding service.“

“I would like to nominate Samuel for his hard work with Greater Anglia. He is a very passionate individual who is very knowledgeable and caring to customers, whether they need assistance or anything else he is more than happy to help.

He is very helpful to passengers, other members of staff and myself with anything from train times or onward travel.

He is one of the best, if not the best member of staff working for Greater Anglia, he deserves my nomination.“

Carl Etherington

Said the following about Samuel French:

“I want to nominate Samuel. I met Samuel three years ago when he was a commuter and he had showed an interest in the railways then. What I love about Samuel is that he loves the railways and it is a joy for him to come to work each day, he is fabulous with the general public with his customer service skills, for somebody so young he has got a wise head for his age. I hope Sam will progress even more to fulfil his dreams in the rail industry.

I was very proud of Sam when he got the job at Broxbourne as a Gateline Operator, he excelled so well in the role helping passengers with everyday queries and he was extremely good during various disruptions such as the Cable Theft at Roydon last year and the unfortunate incident when someone got hit by a freight train at Harlow Mill and another incident at Spellbrook earlier this year. He was even helping us on the platforms with his extreme wealth of railway knowledge. He excelled so well here at Broxbourne as a Gateline Operator that he got promoted and became a Train Dispatcher at Harlow Town which when I heard the news I was over the moon.

He deserves recognition for his hard work and he is a credit to Greater Anglia.“
