“Beckie was the 2nd Head Office apprentice that GTR took on after our integration as a company when she joined our central rostering team in 2016. She sat a pretty rigorous application process in which she shone above her peers the whole way through. By the end of the day of assessments and interviews, we knew that we couldn't let someone else hire this talented lady, and offered her the job on the spot.
She's definitely not proven us wrong, taking to the railway like a duck to water! Rostering within the railway is a tough discipline to learn, but never more so than within the UK's biggest TOC, in a period of complex industrial actions. Beckie has not only had to learn the technical skills of the discipline, but also the nuances of working with staff at various grades in difficult times.
Beckie has proven to be adaptable, picking up new brands and staff pools within the company without complaint. She's done well with her studies, and has proven a positive example for the apprentices who joined the rosters team after her. After less than a year with the company, she's been promoted to a more senior role within the team, and her career seems set to continue to grow on the foundations that she's built during her apprenticeship.“
