The RailStaff Awards 2024

Jaimie Butel-Foley

Said the following about Rebecca Gray:

“Rebecca came to the industry from a career in hairdressing. She had never worked in rail or recruitment and my goodness how well has she done so far?

she has built a regular workforce of both civil and p-way staff taking them from blue hat through to white hat, Rebecca has a real appreciation for giving people an opportunity at the start of their rail career. She has developed a good client base and is growing her understanding of rail week upon week.

She recently completed her NVQ in which she gained a distinction doing this course alongside her already busy working week. Our industry needs more people like Rebecca committed, enthusiastic, and truthful. She is in the process of taking her PTS so we will no doubt see her in the orange army quite soon!

she is a pleasure to work alongside and is liked by everyone she meets, a lovely lady with a fantastic future ahead of her.“

Said the following about Rebecca Gray:

“From the first moment, and my first appointment when I met Rebecca, I knew that she was a special learner who was going to do really well in the program. She was bubbly, took notes, asked questions, and ensured that she knew exactly what was expected of her to achieve her qualification.

Rebecca showed that she wanted to do well and that she took her course seriously, by always being on time for every appointment and never missing a deadline.

Throughout her program, Rebecca achieved 100% on every single piece of coursework without having to resubmit any work. The time and effort that she put into each piece of work was excellent - from demonstrating the knowledge that she had learned from the webinars to using that knowledge to show how she does/ could incorporate that knowledge into her work.

As an assessor it's not very often you have a learner who is not only excellent at her written work but also shines in professional discussion, this was Rebecca. In each discussion, we had she managed to give real-time work-based examples of what she does at work whilst detailing the skills and behaviours that she does to ensure that every task is carried out to the highest standard.

Rebecca throughout her program showed knowledge, skills, and behaviours that meant that she would make not only a fantastic apprentice and learner for me, and her company, but also a fantastic Recruitment Resourcer.

Her manager Jaimie was also an asset to me and Rebecca by always being fully committed to Rebecca on the program and giving great feedback throughout.

Overall I couldn't think of a more deserving apprentice than Rebecca to win this award, she is a natural worker with some of the best communication skills that I have come across, coupled with her persistent can-do attitude means that she will succeed at all tasks and objectives that she is set.

Rebecca went on to receive a distinction at the End Point assessment - something that is very hard to achieve - but fully deserved - Rebecca well done and I am very proud of you.“

Said the following about Rebecca Gray:

“Beckie has come into the contingent labour market at a very testing time but has not been fazed by the everyday challenges she faces. Her cheerful demeanour and determined nature have seen her grow her business and in confidence. She has applied herself in every aspect of the work, is friendly and relaxed with both clients and workers and is a valued new member of the team.“
