“I would like to nominate Rachel Blackman for manager of the year award. Rachel started as a Retail Service Manager then changed roles to Revenue Support Specialist. During her time in this role, she become a coach and always helped others develop. She then became interim Revenue Support Manager last year and quickly settled into the role, which is now permanent. She managers a team of 23 people who are spread across the Crosscountry network. Her colleagues have described her as” utterly infectious”. She always has a can-do happy attitude and brings positivity in everything she does.
Although based in Leeds she travels all over the Network with her team conducting Cross TOC barriers and leading her team to project the revenue at big events. She has recently conducted a Revenue roadshow, visiting depots around the country to advise and take questions from traincrew, working with them to ensure they have the knowledge and tools to do their role. She shows real passion around revenue and installs this into her team. Since being in the role the team has seen the highest recorded KPIs to date and this is through the buzz and dedication Rachel creates though engagement and her style of leadership.
She always has time for her team and colleagues. There have been several occasions when she has been on the phone out of hours to support her team when they have had incidents on board. Talking them through what has happened and providing reassurance and after care. She works with them every step of the way to ensure they build their confidence and feel comfortable enough to go back out on board
She is always willing to help and support her peers, stepping in last minute to provide cover and support to people outside her immediate team, not something which is easy to do when you live over 2 hours from Birmingham.“
