Nominations for Rail Manager of the Year

Duncan Claber

Said the following about Bernadette Miamo:

“Bernadette started her railway career at Wimbledon before moving to London Waterloo as a Team Leader. Bernadette then moved back to Wimbledon as a Duty Station Manager where she helped lead the team through a number of ups and downs including the dark days of a high number of fatalities, but also the better days such as Wimbledon tennis fortnight.

During Wimbledon tennis, you would always see Bernadette there with the rest of the team front of house welcoming all our customers through the station on their way to a great day out. She was also involved in lots of charity work during her time at the station. Her commitment to her role and the customers and communities she serves is one of the things that makes her such a great manager, and her hard work in both this and her role demonstrated

When the opportunity for a new Station Manager for Staines, (which also includes managing Windsor and Eton Riverside) it was clear that Bernadette would be the ideal candidate. Very quickly into her time at Staines she was involved with the Queen's funeral which was great practice as she took the lead for the King's Coronation this year.

As well as these crucial national events, as Manager for Staines, Bernadette is responsible for all our customers that visit Thorpe Park daily and more recently their Fright Night events. As part of this Bernadette ensures all of her team are ready to deal with any situation possible, particularly as this involves hundreds and hundreds of excited young people coming through the station on their way to the park.

Bernadette is a hardworking and reliable team player. Whatever the challenge, the work she does is done to a high standard, with care towards her team and our customers. She is a key part of the SWR stations team and would be a very deserving winner of the Rail Manager of the Year award.“

Said the following about Bernadette Miamo:

“Bernadette helped me a lot during some trying times especially with the sudden death of my father and some health issues. She helped me prepare for am interview during her spare time.

Bernadette will always answer whenever somebody call even if she is on leave and will give advice. I strongly believe she deserves this award for all the hard work she puts in on a daily service.“
