“Morven is one of our great engineers of the future. She not only does an excellent engineering job, developing new and innovative products in a conservative market, buts also makes time to inspire a new generation of people into the engineering.
Over the past year Morven has done the following, largely under her own self-motivation and initiative:
- Developed new products that are now under type-test in North America and Australia
- Developed an excellent junior engineer (rescuing him from a job in retail by giving him a chance)
- Led science workshops in local schools to grab the attention of young people at an early stage in their career
- Developed a collaborative project with LUL to test new options for switches and crossings
- Presented in an innovative way at the RIA innovation conference, gaining recognition from everyone for the engaging way she put the message over
I hope that Morven's relatively junior level in the engineering discipline will not stand in the way of her consideration for this prestigious award.“
“Hello, I'd just like to write a short note of thanks. I attended the RailStaff Awards on Thursday as part of a small team that was nominated, became a finalist and then we actually won our category!!! It was a fantastic experience to be selected & invited to this extremely well organised event. The entertainment was brilliant, the casino, waltzes & dodgems were such a fun idea and the music was so good, we danced our shoes off..!
