“Abdul took the initiative to set up and continues to organise "lunch and learn" sessions on an approximately monthly basis at the Birmingham office; he encourages guest speakers generally from industrial suppliers to come to talk about a topic and talk about their products in exchange for funding a take away lunch that is free to attendees to encourage them to attend during their lunch break. This encourages staff from different disciplines to get together that serves to break down silo working and also is useful CPD for raising awareness of technical issues in the industry.
He also helps out colleagues in other ways; for example the company has been experiencing a range of issues resulting from a change of IT supplier and his IT knowledge has been very useful in helping others achieve what they want to do when they have been struggling to get useful assistance from a remote IT help desk.
Also educating colleagues who overnight were faced with a change from the Office 2003 to the Office 2013 suite of programmes which was a bit of a culture shock for some and has been showing the new facilities available within them and has set up groups within Outlook 365 etc.
Very much a "team player" within the organisation and works wider rather than confining himself to the small power distribution specialism.“
