Nominations for Station Staff Award

Said the following about Mike Sharples:

“Mike has been in the company as a Shunter, Carriage cleaner eventually moving over to Stadler for a while and then recently returning to Merseyrail in the Station Team.

Head of Stations – Ste Bradley states: “I am now fortunate enough to have him as part of my Station Assistant team at Southport. Mike quickly won my respect and admiration for his performance, work ethic, values and for how much of a genuinely good decent person he is. He is always on top of things before I have to ask. He regularly updates me on issues even when not on duty. He stays past his time to attend team meetings. If there is an unpleasant job that needs to be done it's Mike who deals with it completely unfazed. When I am struggling for cover, or the team have something important Mike will always offer and step in. This is really appreciated at Southport barriers are really challenging during the summer months so it’s not an easy shift either for him.”

Nothing is too much trouble, and he brings a smile to all who encounter him. He is happy in his job, and this is noticeable to manager’s staff and customers too. He arrives on time and goes home when all the jobs are done. He deals with issues and problems and sorts them out. This makes everyone’s job easier and behaviour breeds behaviour. Mike is an asset to the team and the company.“
