Said the following about Melony Quigley:

“Mel joined c2c as recently as February 2023, as a Customer Delivery Manager, working at the small but perfectly formed London terminal station of Fenchurch Street. Mel’s impact has been immediate and overwhelmingly positive at the station.

Mel is a true leader - someone who is visible, approachable and never shy in taking on a challenge. In the time Mel has been at c2c, she’s demonstrated on many occasions that she is never shy in getting directly involved in any situation that her team would find themselves in – be that dealing with irate customers, dealing with antisocial behaviour or in supporting vulnerable young people that require a safeguarding intervention. I have personally observed Mel being actively involved in these situations even as I just pass through the station. Mel is often in the middle of the concourse – offering a warm and welcoming smile to commuters heading in to work or partygoers heading out to the coast, and she is simultaneously keeping an eye on colleagues and situations that could arise any moment, making sure that things are under calm and under control.

What compelled me to write this nomination was a conversation with a frontline colleague at the station who fully supported my own observations and, unprompted, he pointed at Mel, who was helping a member of the public with a TVM, and told me that, “Mel is one of the best managers we’ve ever had here. She really cares about people, and about the station. She wants to make things better and she doesn’t accept excuses – she really gets involved. She doesn’t ask us to do anything she doesn’t do herself”. I was really moved to hear this testimony as it came from someone who had nothing to gain directly by sharing this feedback and because it is so rare in my experience for anyone to praise their manager like this, unless that manager is absolutely exceptional- which Mel clearly is. Mel is a huge asset to c2c and to the Railway and I’m so impressed that she has taken to the railway and to c2c so well, having come here with no previous rail experience. We need more leaders like Mel!“
