Said the following about Megan Moore:

“Megan noted a message via the company's social media platform from an unknown male member of the public. The message stated that he wanted to apologise to a Train on one of the Services and hoped that they would recover fast and it was not personal.

Megan engaged with the male via the social media platform, they did not respond but Megan reached out again and asked if they wanted to talk. At this point, the male specifically stated that he intended suicide. Megan immediately raised the alarm to the control, she identified that the male was at a certain station.

As well as raising the alarm to the main control centre to put a caution on the line, Megan spoke directly to the Station colleagues. Megan requested that they conduct a welfare check of the station. The station colleagues found the male on the tracks, the train was brought to a stop and the male was thankfully taken to a place of safety.

Megan remained calm throughout, even though she was confronted with the additional challenge of not being able to see what was unfolding. Megan applied her training from the Samaritans Managing Suicidal Contacts and her actions without doubt saved the males life.“
