Said the following about PCSO Ian Gilmour PCSO Lucas Summers Brian Keenan Ben Farrell PC Jason Morgan:

“Two BTP Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), PCSO Ian Gilmour and PCSO Lucas Summers attended a concern for the welfare of a female at a Station. The female had called her support worker who in turn called 999, thus Thames Valley Police officers also responded. The female was sitting on the platform. Whilst they tried to approach her, she did not engage in any conversation and asked to be left alone.

The female then saw a train approaching and decided to jump down onto the tracks. She is now in the 4 foot, both PCSO officers saw the train (which was travelling at 125mph) too and had a split second to make a decision. Both Officers then jumped down on the UM line, one pushing the female onto the DM line whilst the other officer managed to climb back on the Pl 2, missing the passing train by a few seconds. The Officer on Pl 2 then jumped back on the tracks (UM and then DM) and assisted the female and another officer onto Pl 1 where TVP Officers assisted them. It was recognised that they had a split second to make a decision, they made a Dynamic Risk Assessment at the site, went on mainlines without any protection and saved a life.

Several weeks later, the same female was reported as heading to a bridge. Responding to the incident our EIU team en route to the location, happened to turn onto a different road to check one of the roads of Rail Bridge 24m 49ch on the Branch Line. As they were driving over this bridge, they found a female hanging over the brick bridge with a member of the public holding on to her. Brian Keenan (NR Mobile Incident Officer), Ben Farrell Network Rail Mobile Incident Officer) and PC Jason Morgan (British Transport Police), pulled her to safety and secured her inside the EIU vehicle until Thames Valley Police arrived.“
