“Matthew a Conductor based in Glasgow is nominated for his effort and quick thinking during an incident when he was working on his train on 23 February this year.
It isn’t every day that a woman goes into labour on a FTPE train however, when a woman’s waters broke on an FTPE service between Oxenholm and Lancaster he took full control of the situation and managed this in the best way possible.
Matthew not only arranged for the ambulance at Lancaster but he also cleaned up the mess and informed control about what needed cleaning further down the line. I am sure the woman was thankful that Matthew was there to do all of this and to ensure she was safely dealt with at the earliest opportunity.“
