Nominations for Apprentice of the Year

Said the following about Luke Seabright:

“Having recently achieved his HNC in Civil Engineering, Luke is in the process of completing his Level 4 Apprenticeship, having joined the company 2 years ago. Although recruited as a PWay apprentice, Luke has broadened his experience and gained an understanding of OverHead Line and Environmental/Ecology issues, which he now uses to inform the design process to minimise the consequential impact of the track designs that he now produces, and hence minimise the cost of the project implementation.

As well as gaining a wider understanding of design, Luke took the opportunity to participate in the December 2016 Christmas blockade works with the S&C Alliance (Colas/AECOM), supporting the site technicians from setting out right through to laser surveying, tamping and as-builts. Luke is now using this experience to improve the constructability of his designs, ensuring that staging requirements are considered and that key information is clearly identified on drawings to support the site construction teams.

Luke is a willing and helpful member of the team, often volunteering to provide support, sometime at short notice, where help is needed such as surveying at Stavely Station. For this he received a personal thankyou from the Principal Engineer for his help and the quality of his work.“
