The RailStaff Awards 2024

Nominations for Rail Manager of the Year

Steven Norfolk

Said the following about Lee Woolcott-Ellis:

“Lee is well known for advancing mental health support within the rail industry and this was recently recognised at the National Rail awards where he rightly received a standing ovation.

I would like to nominate Lee as he continually inspires and supports me in my voluntary role as a Mental Health Advocate, he is genuine in his passion to ensure that all colleagues have the support they need and with the Rail Mental Health Charter that he has set up with the RSSB, this care is now extended nationwide to anyone employed within the rail industry.

Lee has had his own personal challenges but is totally focused on selflessly helping others.

Thank you for considering this nomination for Lee which he is so deserving of.“

Mark Brown

Said the following about Lee Woolcott-Ellis:

“Lee is an amazing person, he does so much for the well-being of all staff at SE and is an industry leader in providing peer-to-peer support and wellbeing.

As a manager, he is supportive, listens, helps problem-solve, and always asks rather than tells. He will back you with your decisions and will lead by example.

He is forward-thinking, stays on top of important developments, embraces change, and is always keen to use technology to make tasking and data handling more efficient.

An all-round good leader and a credit to SE.“

Deborah Thomas

Said the following about Lee Woolcott-Ellis:

“Lee is a truly amazing manager. Lee is one of the most kind and hard working person that I know and he always goes above and beyond for everyone.

Lee devised the Railway Mental Health Charter which 124 companies have now signed up to at this point in time. Lee also put the Mental Health Advocates and TRiM Practitioners in place at Southeastern. Lee has worked so hard to make all of this a success.

Lee is a great guy to work with and always has an open door for everyone who needs some help. Lee has turned his office into a very calm, welcoming room.

Lee is absolutely amazing and thoroughly deserves to be recognised.“
