Said the following about Kim Thompson:

“Kim works at Hexham Station on the Tyne Valley line in Northumberland. Kim over her time at the station has given a commitment that is second to none and stretches out over the area not just her home station.

Kim shows a great pride in her station and ensures that anything that may threaten the smooth running or high standards she expects is challenged and rectified. Kim tirelessly chases faults through to completion, she has dealt with a number of contractors personally on various different schemes and projects and ensured that the customer is given upmost consideration and put to the front of everything she does.

This has been the case recently when due to staff shortages Kim offered her help to ensure stations within the area would remain open and mean that disruption to the customer was kept to a minimum. Kim has offered to gain more skills in order to make sure she can help in the future and this is testament to her commitment to her role, her area and the railway.

During recent engineering works Kim suggested herself and helped organise for the station to be open on a number of Sundays during the works so that customers would have extra help and assistance transferring to the replacement bus service. Kim liaised with the roster team and ensured all staff available got their fair share of the work.

As Kim's manager I know that I have a staff member that is giving me her all and that I can rely on Kim to do the right thing and really put the customer at the heart of what she does everyday.“
