Said the following about Karen Kinder and her team at Wrexham General Station:

“I have nominated Karen Kinder and her team at Wrexham General Railway Station. Karen manages all the TfW stations on the North East Wales Line, Wrexham being one of them. As part of my role within TfW, I visit our stations to meet with stakeholders, passengers, and station staff on a regular basis. At Wrexham station I am always made to feel welcome, and part of the team. Talking

to passengers and carrying out customer surveys I have found that passengers are very

complimentary about the staff at Wrexham station, particularly the staff behind the information

office advising that they are always helpful, informative, patient, and cheery. My role includes

various community initiatives and I have been so lucky to have had the support my colleagues at

Wrexham in helping to make the initiatives a success. We have held defib training days for passengers and staff at the station and consultation events to name but a few. Whatever the initiative, Karen and her team are supportive and proactive in promoting and very often taking part. The station is kept clean and tidy, and when I visit, I get a sense of real teamwork. With the current interest in all things Wrexham, due to the football club and its Hollywood owners, the station team

have had to deal with a demand in services and passengers. Whether it is football matches or large concerts, the team pull out all the stops to make those that use the station feel welcome. Karen and many of her team volunteer to help during these major events, handing out water, giving directions and keeping an eye on passengers (particularly those that have experienced a few beers or vinos) to

ensure their safety. Karen might argue that she does this while she waits for Ryan Reynolds to sweep her off her feet, but she has always done it and I feel that it is because she takes pride in role and her stations, and this attitude has clearly disseminated through to her team. It is always a joy to visit Wrexham General Station and Karen and her team would be worthy winners of the Staff Station Award.“
