Nominations for Rail Engineer of the Year

Richard Cooper

Said the following about Jemma Dicken:

“Jemma joined Bridgeway in 2012 as a Graduate Surveyor with little practical experience in engineering and none in rail. From the very beginning Jemma has shown high levels of enthusiasm and a perfectionism in her own work.

Jemma proves to be a flexible and determined member of staff, who quickly learns new skills, techniques and has the ability to adapt herself to almost every environment. She is more than capable to undertake the hands-on practical work on site but at the same time has absorbed a high level of technical knowledge. These qualities have come to the fore of late as Jemma has taken the lead in developing Bridgeway’s laser scanning capabilities.

When joining our team Jemma was new to the Railway Industry but within 3 years she has firmly embedded herself in the railway environment. Following a short Bridgeway development scheme, Jemma was promoted to Engineering surveyor and quickly turned her attention to the intricacies of laser scanning in particular while maintaining a solid appreciation of many other survey techniques.

Jemma is a hard working, skilled and highly capable individual who has a great interest in engineering, and to date has been a real asset to Bridgeway. In an environment where demand for engineers within the railway industry is higher than ever, Jemma represents a great example of quick development by the merging of training, work ethic and academia in conjunction with hard work and determination.

I believe that based on her qualities and as an example to other new Graduates, Jemma is an excellent candidate for the Rail Engineer 2015.“
