“Jamie is a Security Officer for the Railway infrastructure, but on this day he was driving between assets when he noticed a female sitting on the edge of a road bridge over the river. The female looked distressed so Jamie immediately pulled his vehicle over and approached the female asking if she was ok, to which she replied that she wasn't ok and her intentions at the bridge were to end her life. Jamie engaged in conversation with her gaining her trust and providing support whilst keeping her calm.
Jamie managed to signal to his co-worker to call the emergency services and remained with the female for 45 minutes whilst she spoke and explained why she was in the situation as to why she wanted to end her life. When the emergency services arrived, the female felt uncomfortable speaking to them so Jamie stayed with her giving reassurance until she was then assessed by paramedics and taken by Ambulance to get further help.
I believe Jamie stopping that day to check if the female was okay saved her life.“
