Said the following about Jackie Bowden:

“Jackie was on duty when she noticed a lone, young lady walking with haste towards the platform end whilst talking on the phone. The lady was pacing, and once hanging up the phone, was walking around in circles with her head in her hands looking down at the floor.

Jackie approached the young lady, and started a conversation with her, speaking with her and building a rapport. Jackie was alone with the lady for 15 minutes, and she remained professional and friendly, distracting the female who was distressed and clear on her intentions. Jackie stayed with the female the whole time, and did not leave to make any calls even though she was unsure what would happen next or how long she would be there for, as she didn't want to startle her or destroy the rapport she had built up. The lady was at the centre of Jackie's priority. Luckily, the police had been called by the person the lady was on the phone to.

BTP and Land Sheriffs arrived, and Jackie provided a detailed handover to both agencies, allowing the female to not have to repeat what she had already said which would have been distressing. BTP left the station with the female, allowing her to get the support. The female had attended the station with the same intentions the day prior (when it was unstaffed), so her interaction with Jackie truly did save her life.

Jackie is a lone worker at the station, and shows compassion to everyone that passes through her station. The station has had a difficult 2 years with incidents, and Jackie has shown resilience and professionalism in what has been tough to deal with being the only staff member based there.“
