Said the following about Ian Hawkins:

“Ian Hawkins is currently one of our Initial Signaller Trainers in Network Rail Wales and Western.

Ian's passion for passing on knowledge to newly recruited candidates within the Operation discipline is phenomenal. Ian takes into consideration on learning difficulties by putting in reasonable adjustments to put candidates at ease as 90% of new entrants are only just starting in the Railway business in a highly pressured role. Ian takes the time to cater for all needs and sometimes going the extra mile in helping to understand sometimes difficult scenarios and questions. Within Ian's training he develops extra materials to aid the learner and also incorporates his high level experience as a signaller. Ian also makes special personalised tea towels for all successful candidates at the end of ten weeks, as we all know AB signallers love to polish their levers where they work. Ian is also a mentor for the other IST trainer as there is a wealth of knowledge that he loves to share, very positive feedback comes from all of Ian’s candidates which is why I think he deserves this nomination.“
