“I would like to nominate our customer experience HR team for the truly outstanding support they offer the management team at Northern Rail.
They are only a small team of three, headed up by the HR business partner Rhona Henderson, who is supported by HR advisors Lucy Taylor and Fiona Draper.
They cover a vast geographical area and support in excess of 30 managers, who in turn are responsible for over 900 staff. I'm sure you will agree this is quite a challenge, and our HR team meets it with a can do attitude.
Together they provide advice and guidance on a wide range of subjects, from employees personal issue one minute, to leave related questions the next, they also offer valuable support on recruitment strategy, staff engagement and a whole host other things.
Priorities and business needs are ever changing in the rail industry; therefore the ability to cope well under pressure is fundamental to our HR team and this area they excel in. Always professional, supportive and a calming influence in pressurized situations, nothing is too much trouble for the team.
