The RailStaff Awards 2024

Gary Smithson

Said the following about Charlotte Mollart - Morson Rail:

“Charlotte has worked at Morson since 2011. She started as a Resourcer and has quickly progressed to the Recruitment Account Manager for Crossrail. She works tirelessly to support her client. She has an ability to understand their needs and translate this into the relevant numbers of contractors for project after project. She has been described by the client as a ‘superstar’. She has combined the necessary attributes of a good recruiter, a good HR man manager to ensure success for her client and a great working environment for her workers.

“Charlotte has been exemplary in her ability to manage the demands of the Great Western Route Modernisation and Crossrail programmes. She continually delivers high standard of work and will do her utmost to find solutions 100% of the time. Charlotte is an outstanding member of the Morson team and is a true example of someone who demonstrates her company values to the core. She’s an absolute pleasure to have working with our teams.” Crossrail Manager

Charlotte takes any issues and problems in her stride. She is a genuinely sunny person that lets nothing faze her. She has even responded to requests and sorted out roles whilst on holiday. Due to this level of personal commitment retention is very high on this contract. The contractors that she has hired love to see her on site as she is very good about making sure their individual issues are always resolved promptly.

Teamwork is an important part of Charlotte’s success as a recruiter for Crossrail. She keeps both internal team recruiters and the client Managers up to date on any project news and shares this across each region to ensure that any best practice recruitment news and tips are utilised across the entire account.

Charlotte has a great working relationship and reputation which is mainly to do with her ability to look at skills shortage roles and find new ways of sourcing the relevant candidates. An example of her excellent ‘outside the box’ viewpoint is when the client was looking for a skills shortage role i.e Racecard Coordinator. She looked in other sectors for the skills that were required and found that candidates in the logistics sector and the armed forces were potential targets. She talked to candidates in these sectors to really draw out their experience and skills and proposed several likely CV’s to the client with the proviso that these less experienced candidates would be mentored by more senior rail workers. She worked to ensure that there were experienced mentors available for the workers that were being introduced from other sectors.

The Crossrail account takes a great deal of coordination s it is split into separate projects and regions with different Project and Hiring Managers in each area. Charlotte started by managing 2 regions and due to her excellent recruitment and account management skills has now developed the contract to work across all 4 relevant regions. This cross region visibility has given her a unique insight into the resourcing requirements for each project. She utilises this overview to ensure that Crossrail retain the best workers and transfers them between projects when one area is winding down and another is just starting to ramp up.

Charlotte has helped to recruit for and manage this account very successfully over the last year and is always looking for ways to help the client or improve the service delivered. One of the main developments was the introduction of electronic timesheets which enabled the client to have greater visibility of their project spend and decreased the amount of administrative time taken to pay the workers and invoice correctly. This is just one of the many reasons that Charlotte deserves the award for the Rail Staff recruiter or HR person of the year.

“Charlotte is an invaluable member of our team. I can always rely on her and have full confidence in the way she runs this account. Her work with Crossrail and similar projects has made a real difference. Her work ethic has challenged us all to be better and created a more personal interaction with both the clients and candidates. I would be really excited to see Charlotte win this award as she thoroughly deserves it and her account management and resourcing skills should be rewarded.” Gary Smithson - Morson Rail Director“

Said the following about Charlotte Mollart - Morson Rail:

“Having worked through Morson for circa 20 years, I have clearly had dealings with a plethora of different Morson agents across both the company and directorates.

I have recently had the very good fortune and pleasure to be paired with Charlotte. In the brief time (around 12 months, it’s all relative) I have known her, I can honestly state that she is without a doubt the very best I have had in an inordinate amount of time.

That said, I am not suggesting that any other agent/person from Morson has not been up to scratch, as that would be an untruth. it’s just that Charlotte stands out amongst the crowd.

Why? well I will try to summarise:

She has an obvious, clear and apparent dedication and commitment to both her clients and placements. The way she matched my skill set and experience with the right clients and subsequently the right roles, sounds a mandatory element of being an agent. I can categorically state that not all agents have this at the forefront of their minds, as a contractor sometimes it feels like any subbie for and job. That’s simply not Charlotte's way. Every piece of the puzzle is fixed every box ticked and all I’s dotted and t’s crossed. Trust me it makes a difference, after all what are agents without subbies? The sheer tenacity demonstrated in the negotiation of my contracts can only be described as second to none. No, it's not just that she got me a good rate, the terms and condition I wanted were also fulfilled. Being honest, I’m not the easiest punter in the world and like to feel that sometimes I’m in charge. Charlotte managed my expectations and me very well indeed. The simple fact that she is one of the few agents that has taken time out from her busy day to come and introduce herself in person and take an active interest in my contract, work and even personal life. It has to be said, a breath of fresh air. She defiantly makes me feel like part of the Morson team (just in case the TAX man reads this, I am not part of the Morson team I am a Ltd company). Very few, nay only one other, has ever accomplished this. A simple enough task that most agents don’t accomplish or even try to. It makes a big difference and I can only hope that others take inspiration from Charlotte's attitude.

Charlotte clearly has a passion for what she does and this is evident in every interaction I have with her. Whether it’s a mundane query with my time sheet (not mundane to me) or a negotiation of my rate, her knowledge seems to know no bounds and she can confidently deal with everything I pass or sometimes throw her way/at her.

I hope to continue working with Charlotte for many years to come, however I think she is destined for Gary Smithson’s job so I’ll probably just end up with some 'try-hard' agent instead…“

Said the following about Charlotte Mollart - Morson Rail:

“I have been contracting through Morson now for over 1 year and was previously employed by the business, so fully understand the challenges faced by recruiters, this experience meant I welcomed the opportunity to have Charlotte as my primary contact.

Charlotte is a unique Recruitment Consultant who genuinely cares for her contractors and takes pride in what she does. Although there are many slick and dynamic recruiters out there, Charlotte does the basics very well, she stands out from the crowd with her enthusiasm and friendly nature. Taking time out to visit where she can, Charlotte likes to get to know her contractors and by taking an interest in their personal life you can be assured of a level of service that is tailored to her contractors’ needs.

Charlotte goes out of her way to ensure that every matter is dealt with in a timely manner and with no fuss. The level of communication I receive from her is outstanding, I am always kept up to date with information surrounding my contract and anything that might be coming up without me needing to ask.

As a contractor it is important to have trust in the business and the recruiter you are dealing with and in Charlotte’s case her integrity and commitment to the resolution of issues earns her so much respect, she always does what she says she will.

Her skill set is perfectly matched with Morson as an account management business and the support she receives from her managers and rest of the team not only allows her to operate so effectively but also gives her the opportunity to provide the Morson contractor population an outstanding level of service.“

Said the following about Charlotte Mollart - Morson Rail:

“Just as everyone remembers a good teacher, we all recognise a good recruitment consultant. They are the people who make the concept of the job look easy. But the irony is that this is a tough job and those who make it look easy are the ones who are the best at it and that applies to Charlotte.

Charlotte is a skilled consultant who performs a wide range of roles and can bring out the best in everyone she meets. Charlotte excels at her job and has considerable experience, has excellent working knowledge of employment legislation, has a solutions-driven approach to business and is focused on the task at hand yet flexible. Charlotte has good influencing skills and is a confident and personal communicator, with an aptitude for really motivating people, which she does in a cool and collected manner.

I know Charlotte is overseeing more than one project and working with senior managers from various departments across the organisation; each with their own demands and requirements, but she still manages her time effectively and prioritises tasks so nobody feels neglected.

Honesty and transparency are part of Charlotte’s make up and she handles everyone with confidence and transparency so they understand exactly what is expected of them making her the right person for this important role.

In all my working years I have never met a better Recruitment Consultant.“

Said the following about Charlotte Mollart - Morson Rail:

“Having worked with Charlotte over the course of the last 4 years, I have watched her develop into an outstanding Recruitment Consultant. Charlotte began her life at Morson in our blue collar rail team and very quickly adapted to the role of Resourcer, managing the rosters and appointments of the ad-hoc Safety Critical workforce we supplied. Charlotte quickly gained a thorough understanding of the rail industry and what is required to be successful. Since her transition into our white collar technical team, Charlotte has built on her experience and rapidly gained a further understanding of Rail recruitment. Being a quick learner with a positive attitude, she swiftly takes any action that passes her and owns it, all the time building her knowledge and relationships throughout the Morson Group and externally with clients and contractors alike.

Charlotte is not only a highly skilled consultant, she is also an integral member of the team. Her experience and knowledge is shared daily with our new recruiters and she is always one of the first to offer support regardless of her own workload. In my role I have the good fortune to meet many of our contractors whom Charlotte has placed and it is rewarding to hear some of the positive comments about her from those she has come into contact with. To Charlotte recruitment is definitely not just about skills matching, it is the connection and impression that is left with those she deals with, ensuring retention of both the contractor and client population. This ideal is spread throughout the team creating a hub of enthusiasm for rail recruitment and desire to succeed. Charlotte’s patience and tenacious attitude to the recruitment of highly skilled, technical individuals has resulted in her becoming extremely popular with our client base, giving them confidence in the teams’ ability to source difficult requirements with transparency and integrity. Her swift resolution of any issues ensures that her time is spent effectively resourcing and managing a number of challenging accounts, spread nationwide.

Having been involved within Rail myself for over 10 years with much of it in recruitment it is easy to see that Charlotte has so much more to offer the industry and definitely deserves recognition for her work ethic, resolve, skills and cheery demeanour that she displays on a daily basis.“
