“Just wanted to email to let you know that your Land Sheriffs tonight have been absolutely amazing!

We had a gentleman who collapsed on one of our trains and luckily the land sheriffs were on the train on platform 4. They got off that train to give me a hand without hesitation. I'm a new dispatcher and was really panicked so when I saw them, I had a massive sigh of relief. They never ever hesitate to help our staff!

Gentian Kala was amazing, and he should definitely be praised for this!

Gentian always puts himself out there and makes sure that everyone is safe! When his around it’s a massive relief as we all know that things are taken care of!“

Said the following about Gentian Kala:

“Gentian is one of our Land Sheriffs who looks after West Central Station. Gentian is an absolute star who always goes above and beyond to support Greater Anglia staff and our customers and he deserves to be recognised for his service and dedication.

Gentian was on shift when we sadly had a fatality earlier in the year, which required the assistant area manager to attend the station to manage post incident and support station staff. This incident was the first fatality that she had to attend since coming into the post. She was about to leave when Gentian refused to let her go alone. He left the station he was posted at, accompanying her to the incident, ensuring that she had company and support the whole time and was not left alone. When catching up with the manager, she said she didn't know what she would have done without his support, and was so grateful to him for helping her get through a difficult situation - supporting her, staff, emergency services, and passengers.

He is also always on hand at Bishops Stortford, where we have a lot of ASB related issues with school children. Gentian's friendly yet professional nature allows the situation to become diffused before it can escalate. Staff feel reassured in his presence, knowing that if anything goes wrong, he is always best equipped to deal with it. Gentian is an asset to Land Sheriffs, and Greater Anglia is so pleased to have him working with us.“

“Gentian has been very helpful every time he has been at Tottenham and we really appreciate every time he and his colleagues come down as we do have a lot of problems and when they are here they are a great deterrent and great help to the staff.“

“Gentian is one of a kind. He is one of the longest standing Land Sheriff's that I know. He is a very kind and considerate man who always puts other people above himself, he also isn't afraid to do what he must and can to help de-escalate a situation. He has come to our rescue here at Bishop's Stortford multiple times and knows all of our staff very well. It is always a pleasure when he arrives at the station and will go out of his way to make sure he says hello or introduces himself to staff.“

“Gentian has done a lot over the years to help protect staff and passengers as well as dealing with the constant anti-social behavior at Cheshunt station and he is an essential part of the land sheriff's team.

We had an incident with an anti-social homeless individual who was refusing to leave the waiting room when the station staff asked him to and we felt unsafe on our own, fortunately for us Gentian was close by and saw that we were having trouble with this individual, without his swift response and professional actions I don’t know what we would have done especially as this individual had a knife in his bag which he stumbled across when he was gathering his belongings.

Your officer was able to keep this individual safe and calm in a peaceful and respectful manner whilst we waited for the police to arrive to search him and we cannot thank him enough.“

“We have a Land Sheriff named Gentian who looks after West Central Station. His service and dedication to the station are just outstanding. His presence gives us a sense of security that everything will be in control and if anything does go wrong he handles it very professionally. He has the ability to know how to tackle and diffuse a situation. He is an ASSET to the company. He not only supports us at the station but looks after his own team as well.

He always goes above and beyond in helping and assisting GA staff and commuters. Whenever called upon Gentian will go out of his way to make sure people are looked after either at stations or travelling on the trains.

Gentian has dealt with some tough incidents from suicidal interventions to dealing with firearms. But has always dealt with them in a professional manner, which is what the GA staff have to expect nothing less from him.“

“What I can say about this person. He is absolutely professional and very fit for the role he covers. He has a strong presence but even kinder manners.

If you need him, he surely will run to support you. Last Friday in Harlow Town Station, I had some problems due to abusive guys who were smoking on the platform and trying to get a train ticketless. He came straight away to see the situation and he went to speak with guys. After he nicely invited them to leave the station.

“I would like to take this opportunity to nominate Gentian, he is a very hardworking and professional individual. Furthermore, He is a very genuine and well-respected person from passengers and staff.

Everywhere I go people would say how nice he is. He is a huge asset to Land Sheriffs and Greater Anglia. He is very knowledgeable too, helping customers alongside his duty of care to all passengers and staff.

He was really helpful to myself when I was a Gateline Operator previously at Broxbourne and still is now when I am now a Train Dispatcher at Harlow Town. He is really encouraging when it comes to my personal future, he mentions that I'll progress really high in my career with Greater Anglia, which to myself is really motivating.

I recently heard of an incident involving a firearm at Bishop’s Stortford which happened a few months ago, and it has been confirmed that Gentian was on shift and acted in a very professional manner to prevent the incident getting out of hand and protecting the public and staff members.

Lastly, deserves the recognition from his hard work for LS and GA.“

“Gentian is an amazing person to work with and he is an asset to not just Land Sheriffs but even Greater Anglia.

For example he has detained a dangerous gun man at Bishops Stortford station until police arrived. He dealt with the situation professionally for the safety of the public and staff.

Gentian is an excellent person to work with. He is an excellent example of how customer service should be.

In the past couple of years Gentian has dealt with dangerous gangs on the line to reduce gang attacks on the line to keep passengers and staff safe.

Even during Covid when they were stood down I remember bumping into him and he was so keen to get back to work. He is always there to help staff and customers without hesitation.
