“Gareth Morris has worked for Morson in excess of 10 years and during this time has been instrumental in ensuring the Health & Safety of the entire company and contract workforce.
A prime example of an individual who has always held the importance of Health & Safety close to his heart. Gareth’s involvement in Health & Safety was born from his enthusiasm for the Health and Safety of the rail workers and our staff he was involved with, whilst running the rail recruitment division in his early days at Morson. At this time he identified the need for a NEBOSH qualified person to ensure the safety of these individuals and took it upon himself to study part-time whilst carrying out his role as Divisional Manager. Gareth is now our Health and Safety Expert who holds his NEBOSH Diploma and is an active member of the Track Safety Alliance and RICA.
During recent times the Morson Group has been given the accolade of UK’s No1 Technical Recruiter, as such, we currently hold one of the highest numbers of agency Rail sponsored individuals. As the Morson business has grown, so have the number of challenges. Today he manages a 14 strong team of Health, Safety and Compliance professionals, spread throughout the UK. The recent acquisition of Vital, resulted in the integration of two Health and Safety Management Systems, which Gareth took in his stride. Using his knowledge and understanding of both businesses and the industry, he ensured a smooth merger and a cohesive approach to the management of Health & Safety throughout the Morson Group.
In addition to Rail and LU, Gareth also manages the Health and Safety for other areas of our business, which include the Aerospace, Nuclear, Oil & Gas industries both in the UK and worldwide. This experience and visibility of other industries enables him to be innovative with regards to safety initiatives for rail. Gareth’s knowledge sharing and leadership throughout our own business has provided a culture of Health & Safety advocates internally. He has written and produced many Health & Safety documents, most importantly however, his introduction of our “Work Safe, Home Safe†behavioural suites programme has become a core feature across all business units. Gareth’s ideas and cross industry lessons learnt are shared by our representatives and consultants with clients and their suppliers in the many H&S forums that are attended. Having carried out an in-depth study on Fatigue Risk management, Gareth has also developed a workable Fatigue Risk Management model which is used throughout our business.
Gareth is a true Health and Safety professional, who is fully deserved of recognition in this field for his commitment and contribution, not only to Morson but the engineering industry in its entirety.“
