As a long term railway employee he has a wealth of knowledge, which he is generous in sharing, and it this, combined with his real passion for safety which inspires all of us to drive forward improvements. He thinks nothing of visiting a site in his own time and identifying areas for commendation as well as those for improvement, ensuring best practice is shared throughout the business.
When he does identify an area where improvements could be made, he gives unstintingly of his own time and resources. An example of this was the design and implementation of an online manual handling course; the purpose of which is to allow staff to refresh their knowledge as needed and not require that they be scheduled and released for training. He completed the work in his own time, on his own initiative.
He is someone who is truly committed and cares about the safety of everyone who uses the railway and as a result an excellent role model.“
