Said the following about Faye Keane:

“I would like to nominate Faye Keane, who works for Severnside Community Rail Partnership for this award, for helping deal with a suicidal person.

While on a volunteering day cleaning graffiti, a person appeared on the station overbridge threatening to end his life. Faye was co-ordinating the volunteer day and does not work at the station – she works on behalf of the CRP in the area. However, she immediately took action, calmly and professionally raising her arm to alert the driver and phoning the police. Faye stayed on the phone with BTP as the person left the bridge, following them to make sure BTP could find them and ensure they were safe and posed no further threat to life. BTP arrived and helped the person, and Faye returned to finish leading the rest of the volunteer day.

Not being a member of station staff, Faye still put her Samaritans training to full use, and demonstrated her desire to do the right thing and lead by example. Faye’s actions were above the call of duty, but she did not hesitate to intervene!“
