Said the following about Ellis Wood and Matthew Clare:

“Whilst patrolling the Station, Supervisor Ellis Wood was alerted by a member of the public to what they believed was an individual standing on top of the multi-storey car park roof that is linked to the Station. With this being a previous location in which suicidal individuals have visited Ellis raced through the barriers, up the stairs and began making his way towards the top floor of the carpark in an attempt to gather more information. On his way towards the top floor of the multi-story car park Supervisor Wood came across a distressed female, it was at this point Ellis was able to distinguish that the female was indeed the same individual who had minutes earlier stood on the top floor of the multi-story car park and edging closer to the edge overlooking the station. Ellis consoled the female who was visibly emotional and struggling to share how she was feeling at the time, Ellis reassured the female that help was on the way and asked the female if she would like to come and have a warm drink whilst sitting somewhere private so they can discuss any issues she may have going on. Whilst this was ongoing TSO Matthew Clare was liaising with local police and made his way towards Ellis and the female in question and assisted throughout consoling the female further as she further broke down in tears when making her way through the station, Ellis & Matthew then continued to assist and spoke with the station supervisor to ensure a private room was made available and assisted Police in getting the female to safety where she could be further assessed. A truly distressing incident in which had it not been for the officer's quick thinking and willingness to put other individuals' safety before their own we would likely have been looking at a different outcome, one of which would have caused a family immense trauma and distress whilst impacting the railway network and those in the close vicinity. A job well done in the most challenging of situations“
