“I would like nominate Dermot as rail manager of the year. Dermot is my depot manger at Old Oak Common and since I started in 2009 he has always been a person who I can rely on for advice and guidance. He has been on the railway all his life and has worked his way up to where he is now. His knowledge of rolling stock is huge and he is always willing to share this knowledge with his staff. Since I have been a part of the depot I have noticed he has all sorts of problems and stress to deal with every day and is still sending and answering emails well into the night so obviously the depot is always on his mind so I would like this to be recognised.
Even with all this going on he still makes time to sit down with the mangers and team leaders to discuss any issues they have and try to work out the best way to deal with them. He runs the depot in my opinion very well considering all the work that Old Oak Common gets. He remains calm and positive through any situation and even when there are tuff times he try to re assure his staff. I feel dermot has worked so hard all his life he deserves an award for his achievements.“
