“On Sunday 8th February Gloucester driver Kevin McCarthy whilst working a service spotted a venerable female lineside at Trowbridge. Kevin promptly contacted the signaller who arranged for trains to be cautioned.
The next train to approach Trowbridge was worked by Gloucester driver Rob Brace accompanied by Gloucester trainee driver Rob Falcon. With a calm and friendly approach both drivers were able to engage with the lady until the emergency services arrived. They dealt with this difficult situation sensitively and with great empathy. Their compassion and professionalism ensured that the lady received the specialist support that she needed.
The actions of all three Gloucester drivers prevented a potential situation which could have caused wide scale distress to colleagues and customers and serious disruption to services and as such are being nominated for the life saver award.“
