Nominations for Apprentice of the Year

Alistair Lane

Said the following about Charlie Barrow:

“Starting in 2013, Charlie has consistently shown great dedication to his development to become a Rail Engineering Technician. Throughout both his college attendance and his depot experiences he has shown great maturity, willing to work within his peer group and the production teams. He has been a valuable member of the apprentice team, helping and encouraging new intakes. He has an excellent sense of humour which he uses to de-stress any situation, making him a very likable individual. He has shown great determination when undertaking Outward Bound activities, especially mountain walking! Regardless if driving rain or snow was hitting him he would always have a joke or a smile.

Within the structure of the scheme he has twice attended a local special need school to assist children who are unable to undertake work experience by taking the work to them. Constructing a municipal working garden and full decoration of their Special Education Needs Centre, both with the full inclusion of the children.

Charlie will have completed his four year apprenticeship this year and will soon be joining his allocated shift team. Regardless of team Charlie has the aptitude and character to change and progress with the industry requirements. He is a valued work colleague and friend.“
