Said the following about Wendy Whiteley:

“Wendy has only been with the Northern Rail for a short time as Team Assistant for our team. She settled into her role extremely quickly and very soon became an integral part of the team with her expertise in many areas of the business and with her previous experience. She gets herself involved in many projects and is a fantastic help to all the Managers who rely on her competence and confidentiality.

More recently she realised that perhaps we don't prepare our new starters into the company as well as we could do locally and with this in mind she designed a pack in which to give them on their first day within the business. It included a welcome letter signed by their Manager who would be directly responsible for them, telephone numbers with email addresses of persons who they would need to contact at some stage ie. Rosters/Salaries/Account etc. Uniform requirements and ordering forms and many more items that would help and assist any new starter who on induction day would be mesmerized by their surroundings and information given.

We have now started using this pack for our new starters and the feedback has been so incredible that other areas of our vast business have asked for the template she had designed so that best practice can be shared throughout the whole of the company and make all our new starters feel welcome consistently within the company.

I am so proud to have her in our team as she never stands still with progress and is always striving to go that extra mile and make processes more accessible and more creative to help and assist all customers and staff that she has dealings with.

Wendy's achievements fit into many of the Rail Staff Awards Catagories but Rail Person of the Year seem appropriate as she is a fantastic help to every department, every TOC, every person and every company she deals with in her day to day duties.

Well done Wendy keep up your fantastic work.
