“Communication with the workforce is a vitally important part of any route and so is communicating with the public, we have been very lucky with the Wales Projects to have a fantastic team who work with the Communications but one person has shone amongst the others. Nichole Sarra has not only prepared the information on Public complaints but also analysed the data, broken down the areas and types then sat down to see how we as a project can get better at not only understanding what caused the complaints but also what to do differently.

This in turn led to Nichole standing in front of over 200 people over 3 days explaining to our Project workforce and management how making small changes would benefit the neighbours and in turn our customers.

Such was the power of the presentations at the Safety days Nichole was then asked to present at the Directors roadshow for IP Signalling. All the presentations were engaging and informative and influential as with an informed workforce the complaints have dropped right down.

Additionally Nichole has worked with us to ensure letter drops are carried out at least 7 days in advance of the works in clearly identified areas and also helped with crossing meetings and run drop in centres for public engagement. The commitment to ensuring communication flow is managed correctly is second to none and her dedication to getting the message across to keep all informed is both refreshing and admirable.

Dealing with the complaints and irate public is never easy and Nichole’s calm and organised manner has helped ensure that there are no frayed tempers or unanswered questions, sometimes the people like Nichole get overlooked because they have calmed the waters that make it easier for the rest of us to work without confrontation and harassment and I believe this is worthy of recognition
