“I would like to nominate the travel champions for Western Route for an ‘Outstanding Customer Service’ award.
This team of volunteers are made up of Network Rail employees, who tirelessly give their time out of their busy jobs, and often their personal lives to regularly support the route with major events. For example, the flying Scotsman travelling through our route, where the team worked to ensure public safety and awareness over a few evenings and weekends, Bath Christmas market and London Paddington at Christmas, where our travel champions direct members of the public to the right platform, exits and routes to the market all in a safe manner. The travel champions also frequently attend key station locations where major sporting events like Rugby, Football and Athletics are taking place to support members of the public to get to their event and home safely.
This level of customer service is both beyond the call of duty and extremely valuable to the Western Route for Network Rail, our Customers and our lead Train Operating Company; Great Western Railway.“
