Catherine Lacey

Said the following about Tony O'Grady:

“GTR Group Station Manager Tony O’Grady ran the hugely successful 'Get in to Railways - Princes Trust programme' for First Capital Connect and has continued to champion it under GTR.

The programme helps young people across the community we serve, find training and employment opportunities in the railway industry and beyond. This scheme has allowed us to draw on new talent through diverse means and it’s clear from the enthusiasm with which our team have taken to Get into Railways, that it’s had an enormously positive effect on our business.

Get into Railways is an innovative programme because it seeks alternative paths for finding training and employment opportunities for young people.

Tony has played a pivotal role in the success of this scheme by giving huge amounts of his time to the programme, organising events for all those involved and by being available for all the young people throughout their journey as they join Govia Thameslink Railway.

Thanks to Tony's efforts, commitment and dedication to the scheme, over 50 people have stayed on to pursue a career with GTR and one candidate, Mike Tyler, even won the ‘Flying Start’ national award at the Prince’s Trust Celebrating Success Awards as well as the East England winner of the Prince’s Trust Celebrating Success Awards. His support for the scheme has been incredible.“

Said the following about Tony O'Grady:

“Tony is a very hard manager and is highly supportive of his team. He has worked extremely hard with the princes trust candidates and has always acted as a beacon for the candidates in difficult times.

I can quite frankly say that Without Tony's commitment the Prince's trust candidates would have struggled.

Tony has continuously supported his team and always makes himself available evening during out of hours and weekends.“

In my opinion Tony is a very selfless and hardworking individual and the best manager me and my team have had. He is highly inspirational and never fails to get the best out of his team with his support.

He always sees everything in a positive light and never is a very committed individual.

I would not be where I am today without his undivided support.“

Mike Tyler

Said the following about Tony O'Grady:

“Tony O'Grady is someone who give up a lot of time to help young people from the Princes Trust get into the railway. He helped me and believed in me that I could become someone, he would plant a seed and watch the seed grow. He has helped many young adults over the last few years.

Even though he does the Princes Trust courses, he also does the group stations managers job at the same time. And that take a lot of dedication, because that's a lot of work and late nights and a lot of coffee.

Tony supported me throughout my awards he was there every step of the way if I had an issue I could call him and he would talk me through things I would need to do.

Tony is an idol to many young people who have come from the Princes Trust because of how far he has come throughout his life career.“
