“We as a collective are nominating Tom for his exceptional dedication to his depots.
Since Tom has joined as the Area Operations Manager for Barnham, Horsham and Three Bridges he has enabled his staff to produce outstanding performance, which in turn has seen sickness levels improve for the better.
He encourages, supports and recognises all his staff by inspiring them to achieve a higher qualification to enable them to move forward in their railway career if they chose to.
He remains open- minded and transparent when dealing with issues in the depots, takes accountability for his actions, he is quick at responding to situations at short notice and ensures he works collaboratively with his teams.
He takes the time to listen to any concerns and ensures he treats everyone fairly and as equals across all grades.
Members of staff have commented on how approachable Tom is, if they have any questions or queries he takes the time to deal with their concerns. He also has built a good relationship with our local trade unions.
Overall, Tom deserves to be recognised for all the hard work and dedication to a coastal area which now has a reputation of being a warm and welcoming place to work.“
