Said the following about Tim Brawn:

“Tim Brawn is as synonymous to the Three Peaks by rail as is the Railway Children charity. Since first taking part in the event twelve or so years ago Tim has gone on to take the lead in chartering the train and taking a permanent role in the organising of the event. Charities such as the Railway Children depend on fund-raising events. The Three Peaks by train is a hugely successful team building event that brings Railway personnel together and raises a huge amount of money in the process. The 2017 event raised in excess of £185k. Without volunteers like Tim who also motivates a team of people behind him, these fund-raising events would not be so successful or have the same longevity. Thinking beyond the norm, this year Tim exceeded the expectations of many railway enthusiasts when instead of launching the Three Peaks train from London Euston, he initiated a double-whammy by starting the train at Crewe enabling a special charter beforehand raising approximately £30k. Tim demonstrated great fore-thought and saw a further opportunity to fund-raise in the process. Tim deserves to be singled out for praise because not only is he a father, grandfather, husband and full-time railway employee, he dedicates so much of his limited and valuable spare time raising money for a charity that is close to all railway employees the Railway Children. Let us not forget either that Tim was one of the first people to volunteer himself to take part in the Railway Children's inaugural trek up Kilimanjaro. Again, pushing his personal limits and raising funds in the process for a charity dear to his heart. It is for these stated reason that Tim earns a right to be nominated for the RBF Heart of Gold award. His dedication is unwavering and well deserves a salute.“
