Said the following about Tim Brawn:

“Tim has the grey hairs and funny stories to prove he is a veteran of 30 years on the railway. A more knowledgeable man you couldn't hope to meet, but it is his practicality and the way he is willing to get stuck in to sorts any challenge that sets him apart.

As a Duty Control Manager Tim demonstrates the cool head in stormy waters that is required of him both at work and also through his charity work. Doing this in his spare time as well illustrates his commitment both to his job and also the charity fundraising that he has successfully combined. He has the drive and determination to get charter trains and rail tours set up, often involving many hours of time outside work, and this makes Tim a great asset both to the Railway Children charity and to TPE.

Tim has now been involved in 11 Railway Children Three Peaks by Rail trips, having first started in 2005 (initially raising over £3,000 in sponsorship money). During this time he has bridged the gap between the charity and the rail industry, working positively and collaboratively across many different charter, freight and passenger operators. He has also organised TPEs own participation in the event with several teams from the company taking part each year.

In terms of the charter trains TPE have organised in support of this event, they ran in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and have taken in salubrious locations including (but not limited to) Corkerhill depot and Longsight Goods Loop. In total these trains have raised over £70,000 for the Railway Children.

For these trains Tim was responsible for ensuring smooth industrial relations between TPE and other operators, both during the planning procedure and also on the day. Though his achievements have come mainly in the charity fundraising area, Tim's leadership and enthusiasm for charity fundraising over many years mean he is more than worthy of a lifetime achievement award.“
