• Network Rail East Midlands Route

The hard working, dynamic team includes Delivery Managers, Planners, PICOP's , Engineering Supervisors, Authorised/Nominated Persons, COSS's and Safe Work Leaders

Their recent successes include:

August 2016 Thameslink Project 9 Day Blockade - London Bridge Golden Hour - As part of Bridgeway delivery for Thameslink, one of our most challenging activities was to deliver the LL04 ‘Golden Hour Possession’ at London Bridge. The possession was booked for 1 hour from 10:15 to 11:15 just after the Friday morning rush hour. The block was taken to facilitate the early start of the LL04 (Low Level – London Bridge) works. Months of planning ensured the possession was taken in a timely manner and handed back promptly.

As part of the planning process, a minute-by-minute plan was created in collaboration between the Route Access Team and Bridgeway. Preparations were carried out in the days/nights leading up to the possession, where teams were responsible for checking everything from access gate locks through to hook switches and blocking/strapping locations.

The Bridgeway Delivery Manager and the Access Services Director were at New Cross Gate with the Bridgeway SPICOP and the Thameslink Head of Operations. They were there to monitor and assist in ensuring that the possession was taken on time. There team worked together to identify a late running train in to London Bridge, which had the potential to jeopardise the timings of the possession. A decision was taken to terminate the late running service at New Cross Gate and to allow the possession to start on time.

The possession time was maximised, delivered safely and handed back 15 minutes early. This is evidence of the effort and commitment of the Bridgeway team to support such a complex portion of work and ensure that access is delivered safely and efficiently.

There have been other critical possessions almost every week since LL04, (ie. LL09, HL04 and HL07) all of which have been safely and efficiently delivered.

Ensuring that all work is optimised during possessions and line blockages- The Bridgeway Access Services team always have the right person, in the right place, doing the right thing - always safely. They always ensure they are aligned with the Network Rail Vision of Safety and Good Business Performance go hand in hand.“
