Said the following about Steve Melanophy:

“On responding to a medical incident at Paddington Station, Steve was notified that the injured party - part of a family returning to Canada - was in anaphylactic shock and required admission to hospital. Although the passenger could be accompanied by his wife in the ambulance their luggage and children could not accompanying him too. Steve took responsibility for looking after the children at the station with agreement of the family until their mum could return to collect them. Steve displayed care and compassion and put the needs of the family before himself, managing the situation in a calm manner and turning what was a distressing and upsetting incident into much better situation.

Steve selflessly put the needs of the family and welfare of both the girls and their parents before his own needs. He even purchased two Paddington Bear toys for the girls as he was determined that their experience at the station and of the railway shouldn't be a bad memory but should be something that they could smile about in time.

Steve turned tears and fear of two children in an unfamiliar environment in to a calm and fun couple of hours engaging the children in stories about their life back in Canada. His kindness and humour even made them smile and laugh by the time their mum returned to collect them.“
