Nominations for Station Staff Award

Said the following about St Pancras International Station Team:

“I am nominating our incredible team at St Pancras International station - Paul Chappell, Andreea Predoi, Magdalena Wos, Muhammad Khan, Babajide Oluwasanmi, Abrar Ahmed and Nicholas Jones who all work as Customer Service Assistants/in the station control room.

A number of major medical incidents occurred on the evening of 30th August 2023 at St Pancras International station and the station team worked together to deal with them all with exceptional professionalism and expertise. They all calmly delivered critical medical attention to a passenger who had fallen onto the tracks, they then safely evacuated 2 busy platforms in the subsurface during rush hour. They were attentive to the injured party and collaborated brilliantly with the emergency services. During the incident there was also a second passenger who fell ill and required ambulance attention, so the team provided first aid assistance, took measures to protect the individuals' dignity by deploying medical screens and liaised with ambulance crews before the individual was taken away by an ambulance. They remained calm and composed during the entire incident. The control room played an integral part in the incident response, from the initial stopping of trains to relaying critical information and providing accurate updates to the SIO. They remained calm and professional throughout. Whilst dealing with the incident, they also took the time to ensure the welfare of colleagues who had witnessed the injured party fall and made sure they were okay. You have two choices when incidents like this occur, you either crumble or step up and put your years of training into practice, and that's exactly what the team did. Without their quick thinking and expertise, the evening could have gone very differently.

It is people like Paul, Andreea, Magdalena, Muhammad, Babajide, Abrar and Nick - who keep our stations running. Being on the frontline in all weathers in a station environment is a difficult, challenging and often thankless job - but the whole station would love for them to win this award to show what a difference they made on that particular day - and every day. We are extremely proud to say they work for Network Rail High Speed.“
