Said the following about Sheree Whetren:

“Where do I begin?

When Sheree worked at Hedge End station, she became a fabulous asset to our community, through her charity work and the close links that she forged with Berrywood School. She instigated competitions, art installations, the adoption scheme and the Christmas Fayre. Even though her role has now changed to ‘Well-being Practitioner’ so she is no longer working at our little station, she has maintained her ties. This year alone, she has enabled litter-picking events, invited children to plant and weed at the station, run art competitions to enhance the waiting room windows and inspire the children, arranged the donation of a community defibrillator to our school and organised and run a very successful Christmas Fayre!

The Fayre was a super addition for our community, during the day, 3 classes of Year R children visited Santa (Sheree’s husband, Chris), in the waiting room. Santa read them stories and answered questions. He had his photo taken with them and helped them hang their homemade decorations on the large tree that Sheree had arranged. This was magical enough, but Sheree had sourced, bought and wrapped appropriate books so that Santa had a gift for each of the children.

In the evening, the locals could visit craft stalls and be entertained by the Salvation Army band and the school choir. The organisation of this event must have been phenomenal!

The community are extremely grateful to Sheree for all that she does for us. People talk about ‘the lady who used to run the station’ fondly, as if she were a legend.“

Said the following about Sheree Whetren:

“I have known Sheree for almost six years since starting at SWR. We became intrinsically linked through our passion for people. Sheree and I worked together as volunteer Community Ambassadors. Sheree excelled in this role and spent countless hours of her own time carrying out the role. Evenings and weekends were spent with community groups on Try the Train trips, giving talks on rail safety and forging close relationships far and wide across the network.

Sheree has a genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service to everyone she encounters. Her kindness and inbuilt empathy far surpass that of anyone I've met during my time at SWR. I remember a trip with Sheree where Sheree treated us all to her beautiful homemade cupcakes and the group were excited to visit the market. On arrival, it transpired two of the group were unable to manage the walk from the station to the town in Petersfield. Ever the quick thinker, Sheree took charge, we walked into the town and with Sheree's persuasive skills, were able to ''borrow' two wheelchairs from a local charity shop. The delight on the faces of the wheelchair recipients was of pure joy! What an amazing time we all had, thanks to Sheree.

Sheree has been instrumental in no end of charity causes and every Christmas takes the helm to organise the donation of boxes to charities. She is dedicated and driven where helping others is concerned.

Sheree has moved into the Occupational Health area of the company and is heavily involved in organising various health initiatives which she ensures are highly publicised and accessible to all colleagues. I have recently attended a CPR/Defib run by Sheree, it was informative and professionally run, a highly important skill for everyone.

I could regale you no end with Sheree's achievements and accomplishments haha.

However, what I wish to say about this exceptional lady is that SWR would be a duller place without Sheree and an award to recognise this is deserved by Sheree above anyone else I have encountered here at SWR.“
