Said the following about Richard Hancock:

“I'd like to nominate Richard for the Lifetime Achievement Award. He has been part of the Railway family for many years. Richard joined BR at Oxley depot on 23rd March 1979 as an electrician on the carriage and wagon. During his time at Oxley, he worked on a multitude of units ranging from MK1/MK2/MK3 coaching stock, DVTs, and class 90s/87’s/86s. In the late 80’s he went through craft interchangeability to multi-skill the workforce. On June 19th 1990, he started at Birmingham New St, as a technician where he attended in-service faults and failures on all classes that serviced the station.

Following the privatisation of the railway in 1997, Richard has worked in the same location but his overalls have seen changes through Regional Railways, Maintain, Central Maintrain, London Midland and now West Midlands Trains. He has been a team leader for the last 19 years (approximately). He is one the longest serving members at West Midland Trains and is a most popular well known figure at Birmingham New Street having worked there for 33 years.“
