Said the following about Rebecca Meechan:

“Rebecca is passionate about what she does, her creativity and enthusiasm are infectious and she always approaches everything she does with a positive attitude and a smile that lights up the room.

Her talent for digital content is considerable and she has managed to bring us all into the world of a good Menti poll and has created several informative videos for use with both internal and external customers.

Rebecca is a pleasure to work with and has been a key member of the team on several projects I have been involved with over the last year ensuring the media ran smoothly. Nothing is to much for her and I have never heard her say 'I can't' she will endeavour to make things happen and her passion shines through.“

Keira McLuskey

Said the following about Rebecca Meechan:

“Rebecca has revolutionised how we communicate sustainability in Scotland through her various digital outputs. She regularly transforms dry, technical information and instruction into engaging, informative and often funny digital formats to reach colleagues across the business. Rebecca has dragged us into the future, retiring the PowerPoint slides we used for our Sustainability Soundbites (a roundup of all the good news stories from across the region) and using software like Canva to bring our messaging to life, via digital (Scala) screens across all key locations including office and front-line depots. She also feeds this content into notes for Alex Hynes to discuss on our periodic All Scotland call.

Not only does Rebecca produce our periodic Sustainability Soundbites, but her creativity and imagination has brought the Our Green Code campaign to life with a series of videos which she films and edits herself. Rebecca uses her initiative to identify colleagues across the business who are going out of their way to make green choices then creates digital output to share the good practice. Her work has created a platform for sustainability while making acting on climate change accessible to everyone. Rebecca’s digital outputs help to reach a much wider audience and have been a driving force in keeping colleagues engaged and motivated to contribute to tackling the climate emergency.

Beyond videos and digital cascades, Rebecca was a lead organiser of our recent Scotland’s Railway Sustainability and Engineering conference, ensuring the media ran smoothly. She encourages us all to post on Viva Engage, resulting in some great online conversations and has gone above and beyond by creating her podcast “Sustainabilitea” which she records in her own time! It is worth emphasising that Rebecca isn’t a sustainability professional but a communications business partner and supports many teams across the business in the exact same way – using digital communication to land messages and engage our workforce.

Rebecca’s passion, energy and enthusiasm are infectious, and nothing is ever a problem for her. She is a dedicated, team player and it is an absolute pleasure working with her. There are a lot of competing priorities in running our railway but seeing Rebecca’s digital content, cuts through the noise and seeing it make a difference is a total joy. We all think it is high time she was recognised for the powerful impact her work is having.“

Jonathan Callis

Said the following about Rebecca Meechan:

“Rebecca is an extremely well deserved nominee for this award category.

She regularly demonstrates her considerable talent and enthusiasm for digital content.

Her creativity has made a fantastic impact using internal communication channels to showcase the great work going on right across Scotland’s Railway.

This is always done with originality, using innovative ways and even humour to reach her target audience.

Her superb organisational skills have been a great help to Scotland Region too.

On two occasions in the last year she has been a pivotal member of the planning and delivery team for two flagship internal conferences.

She had a critical role making sure both ran smoothly / solving unforeseen issues as they arose, and that attendees were kept fully engaged via multiple types of media.

Rebecca also managed recording of the events with lots of images and attendee feedback captured, to share their success and key messages with the wider business.

Nothing is too much to ask Rebecca, at short notice she even created two professional quality videos for our team.

They were very different in scope, but each required significant work. Both were superb and were really well received when shown.

Rebecca role models enthusiasm, determination and hard work. She is a great colleague to collaborate and to work with!!“

James Morrison

“Rebecca played a crucial role in the success of both our Regional Lineside and Drainage Conference and our Sustainability and Engineering Conference this year. Both were very slick events with very differing styles, but both highly successful with glowing feedback about the events.“

David Harkin

Said the following about Rebecca Meechan:

“I'd like to nominate Rebecca because of her commitment to climate action.

Rebecca is the perfect example of someone using their role to help address the climate crisis in a super effective way.

As a digital and comms expert, Rebecca has been unwavering in her support of the Sustainability Team at Network Rail Scotland - going above and beyond to help us get our messages out to the organisation (and helping them land in the most impactful way)

In recent months Rebecca has transformed our sustainability soundbites into a really visual and engaging resource and has played a leading role in the organisation of our sustainability and Engineering Conference. For both, Rebecca applied her skills in digital communications expertly, adding so much value and making both a success.

I can't think of anyone more deserving for this award!“
