Said the following about Rabinder Kaur:

“Rabinder Kaur was recruited as the UK HR Advisor for SNC-Lavalin Rail & Transit (formerly Interfleet) in 2014 and has built the credibility of the HR function within the UK during this time. As a result of her great work, she was appointed UK HR Manager in 2016.

The need to attract and retain talent within the rail industry has never been so important to the success of SNC-Lavalin Rail & Transit, due to an ever shrinking talent pool. Rabinder quickly recognised the impact of not adjusting HR frameworks to the ever moving market conditions, in order to grow the business in line with business plans. Following the successful implementation of a Job Classification system in 2015 - which was complemented by market comparative salary banding which Rabinder also helped to create - Rabinder was tasked to lead an overhaul of SNC-Lavalin’s benefits offering in the UK. As part of this, she was required to harmonise all employment terms and conditions to incentive staff to progress through the banding structure (based on competency frameworks) that she also implemented in the UK. Rabinder worked with the HR Shared Service, utilising subject matter experts as well as conducting employee consultations, to ensure that the issues of both the business and the employee were addressed.

The production of a singular set of terms and conditions for SNC-Lavalin employees - along with a structured benefits offering which is attractive to our employee demographic and salary banding that is reflective of the external rail market conditions - has allowed employees to see the investment that the company has made. This reflects the vital role that each individual plays within SNC-Lavalin, as employees are our most important asset.

Rabinder’s work has all been underpinned by SNC-Lavalin Rail & Transit’s “Great Place to Work” employee engagement strategy. The key measurable for this project has been a reduction in staff turnover, as well as an increased ability to attract external talent. In our staff survey, engagement scores within the UK showed increases in:

Recognition: 67% (2013) 71% (2015)

Pay & Benefits: 30% (2013) 49% (2015)

Rabinder is a true HR generalist who has a solid understanding of the whole employee lifecycle and how HR can support the business to attract, retain, develop, nurture and promote internal talent in line with business growth plans.“
