Said the following about Principal Contractor Team West Outer:

“The PC team have been fundamental in several step changes on the Crossrail West Outer project in regards to safety. In four months they raised 1245 close calls on the project and have subsequently maintained 500 close calls per month. This has seen a large trend analysis be maintained leading to improvements in site welfare, lighting and housekeeping. This has a positive influence in having 1000 days RIDDOR free across the project. They are also responsible for an average of 450 safety inspections per month on 9 major contractors working with these contractors to close out actions. This has resulted in several star awards being awarded. They have implemented several safety initiatives such as advanced driving workshops that has seen a reduction in offences go from 1200 per month to 4, leadership workshops working with the British army to develop leadership for site supervisors which has seen an increase in supervisor input into safety, environmental workshops including spill training and trailing of greener and efficient equipment that has seen a reduction in carbon savings and cost. They have also managed a control centre that ensures there has been no violation of the door to door policy which ensures everyone on site is monitored and managed safely. They have also responded to over 200 incidents in the period ensuring fast facts are produced within the hour, incident review within 24hrs and closure after 7 days in all incidents. The PC manager has also ran leadership days for the whole of Crossrail, has been involved in route led investigations resulting in change to rule book policy and procedure and has implemented a delivery system which tracks every delivery on site to ensure the delivery is managed by a meet and greet ensuring there are no safety violations. The PC has been regarded as a step change on the project and is working with NR to influence this change throughout the uk. A tremendous effort which deserves the highest recognition.“
