“In at the Deep End
Following internal promotions, Pete was promoted to Team Leader at the busy freight hub based around Ferrybridge supporting the Operations Support Manager, Transpennine. Within weeks he had to take over when the OSM had to step down from the role due to ill health. This meant Pete was responsible for managing the team of Groundstaff including undertaking all their assessments. But with the support of his colleagues at Ferrybridge, Pete rose to the challenge. He had to familiarise himself with our competence management system, EDS as well as all the procedures for rostering and HR support.
Freightliner’s Competence, Assurance and Verification Manager recently audited the site and reported back that all the safety-critical assessments were up to date at Ferrybridge
I am very proud of what Pete has done to help us over this temporary period, showing a willingness to work hard at the areas he was unfamiliar with in order to ensure everyone was safe and when our Operations Support Manager returns back to the role shortly, he will find everything is up to date and ready for him to take over again
